‘’And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so, must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.’’
Explanation of this verse:
The message of today’s bible verse refers to an incident from the Old Testament, specifically in the book of Numbers (Numbers 21:4-9). During the time when the Israelites were wandering in the wilderness, they complained against God and Moses, expressing their discontent with their circumstances, including the food provided to them. As a consequence of their lack of faith, God sent venomous snakes among the people, and many were bitten and dying.
In response, God instructed Moses to create a bronze serpent and put it on a pole. Whoever looked at the bronze serpent after being bitten would be healed and live. This act of looking at the serpent in faith became a means of salvation and deliverance from death. Jesus’ death on the cross is the ultimate act of salvation for humanity. Just as the Israelites were saved from death by looking at the bronze serpent in the wilderness, so too will those who believe in Jesus be saved from eternal death.
The verse ends with the words “have eternal life.” This means that those who believe in Jesus will have a relationship with God that will last forever. They will never die, and they will never be separated from God. The message of today’s bible verse is very powerful. It tells us that Jesus’ death on the cross is the ultimate act of love and salvation. It also tells us that those who believe in Jesus will have eternal life, which is the most precious gift of God for his believers.
So my brothers and sisters, Jesus Christ is the only one who came on earth just to give us the right direction of life and just for the sake of our sins, accepted to die on the cross. As he was the real God, so he overcame death. The total authority of life and death was with our Lord Jesus Christ, then how could death prevail over him? Which describes the glory of our God. So, dear ones, hold fast to the rope of the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the source of real life, that’s why he said it himself ” Whoever believes in me will not perish but have eternal life.”
