Luke 1:10
“And the whole multitude of the people were praying without at the time of incense.”
Explanation:
Today’s Bible verse: God’s people are beautifully depicted worshipping and praying as the priest performs his ministry inside the temple. The burning of the incense stands for the prayers ascending to God from the people, indicating that the act of worship does not only happen inside the priest’s ministry but also among the people’s prayers. As such, we can learn that prayer is an integral part of the believer’s life, being one of the most vital acts of faith.
Today’s bible verse: It should also be noted that God does much in response to faithful prayer from His people. While Zechariah was burning incense, God was getting ready to show him that his wife would have a baby, John the Baptist. In other words, God heard the prayer of his servant, although at that time he had no idea about his future blessing. Prayer is never a waste of time but a manifestation of faith, worship, and hope in God’s sovereign working in our lives.
Conclusion:
So, Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, in summary, the application of this scripture is that prayer needs to be a consistent and genuine act on the part of every believer, both individually and collectively. This can be done through praying daily and communally alongside other believers, as well as trusting that God is working in ways that are unseen. Just like the faithful believers who prayed during the hour of incense, we need to come before God with humbled hearts in the knowledge that He hears our prayers, builds up our faith, and fulfills His sovereign will at His own pace.
