Matthew 5:20
“For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed* the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.”
Explanation:
Today’s bible verse teaches us that being a person is not just about doing the right things when people are watching. It is about being truthful and doing what God wants us to do. The scribes and Pharisees were very good at following all the rules in front of people. A lot of them did not really care about God or other people. They were not humble or kind. Jesus is saying that to get into heaven, we need to be more than good on the outside. God looks at what’s inside our hearts. He wants to know why we do things and what we are thinking. True goodness comes from believing in God, being honest, loving God and other people, and doing what God tells us to do. This is what Jesus wants us to know about being a person and getting into heaven.
The bible verse also reminds us that our spiritual life should be genuine and not fake or full of pride. Jesus wanted us to live with purity, forgiveness, compassion, and honesty every day. A person may seem religious on the outside. If they don’t change, inside their goodness is not complete. Christ wants us to live differently from the world by showing God’s character in what we do and how we think. This kind of goodness is possible when we follow God truly and let Him change our hearts.
Conclusion:
So dear brothers and sisters in christ this, today’s bible verse is really making us think about our faith. Is our faith real? Is it just something we show to other people? We can use what this verse is saying to us in our lives. We should pray to God. Really mean it. We should be nice to people. We should not be fake. The faith we have in God is what matters. We should forgive people when they do something to us. We should do what God wants us to do because we want to, not just so other people will think we are good, when we spend time with God every day. Let the Bible guide us; that is when we start to be the kind of people God wants us to be. Living a life having faith in God and loving other people. This is what God likes to see. When we do these things, we are showing God that we really care about Him and we want to be close to Him. The faith we have in God and the way we live our lives can bring us closer to God’s kingdom.
