Proverbs 4:17
“For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.”
Explanation:
Today’s Bible verse. This verse (Proverbs 4:17) depicts those individuals who become addicted to evil such that evil deeds and acts of violence become a way of life for them. The phrase “bread of wickedness” and “wine of violence” is figurative in nature, indicating that evil actions could be so habitual to them as the bread and wine. The verse further states that by doing so, one becomes far away from the wisdom of God.
This Bible verse. The passage also teaches Christians to be watchful of the influences and decisions that affect their lives. The things we keep on consuming through thoughts, practices, interactions, and actions will influence the hearts and direction of our lives. God is calling his people to pursue righteousness, peace, and truth, not to be accustomed to wickedness in their lives. Wickedness will lead to destruction and emptiness.

So, Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, this verse teaches us to shun evil before it becomes a part of our nature and seek after a lifestyle that imitates the goodness of God. By prayer and self-discipline, we can make decisions to do what is right every day and lead a life that brings about peace rather than evil.
