Isaiah 5:14
“Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it. ”
Explanation:
Todays bible verse is taken from Isaiah, which gives a very sobering expression of judgment and consequence. It illustrates hell as a thing that gets bigger and grows, not because God is into punishment, but mainly because of the pride and rebellious living of mankind. No matter how many people respect someone or how many people celebrate or even have pride in this person, they have no chance of evading spiritual judgment based on their attitude towards God.
Behind this verse, it is essentially a warning against pride and the lack of honesty in security. Those who “rejoice” without reverence for God feel their security is based on wealth, numbers, or influence. Yet the verse reminds us that when joy is built upon sin and arrogance, it ultimately drives downward instead of upward. God’s judgment is not some kind of chance event; it is a natural consequence of turning away from His ways and answering humility with self-exaltation.
