Romans 2:21
“Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal?”
Explanation:
Today’s Bible verse: The Bible verse, Romans 2:21, states, “Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? Thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal?” From this Bible verse, we learn that we have to practice the very teachings that we give to other people. It is not difficult to give people the teachings of right from wrong. However, God calls upon us to examine ourselves, especially our hearts and behavior. We cannot teach people not to steal when we ourselves are stealing.
Today’s Bible verse. This scripture also serves to remind us that we should not judge other people while we are blind to our faults. There are times when we become quick in pointing out the faults of others without realizing that there are sins and weaknesses in ourselves. The Lord desires for us to “walk our talk,” meaning to do things the way God wants us to. Teaching others of the values of truthfulness, love, righteousness, and obedience is good, but first of all, we should embody these virtues ourselves.
Conclusion:
So, Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, the lesson we derive from this verse is that we need to first examine ourselves before judging others. This can be put into practice in our day-to-day lives through honesty, being true to our words, fairness in our dealings with other people, and practicing the teachings of the Bible just as we preach them to other people. Rather than dwelling on the faults of others, let us pray for ourselves so that we may see our faults and rectify them. Let us never forget that pleasing the Lord means more than preaching His Word; it means living it.
