At the time of Isaiah, many people were growing too proud of their drinking practices while ignoring righteousness and Godly behavior. This passage serves as a reminder that greatness lies in wisdom and godliness, not in worldly desires.

When people indulge themselves to excess, ignoring any kind of spirituality, it may result in bad judgment, broken relationships, and alienation from the will of God. It is imperative that the followers of God lead their lives with self-discipline and integrity.
