“How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?”
Explanation:
Today’s bible verse shows the sorrow and emotional distress David felt at the time. David had been sick and tired of always thinking about his problems. Every day, he was feeling sad in his heart for so long and wondering whether he would be able to go on suffering as his enemies were winning against him. From David’s statement, we can learn that even a faithful person can feel sad, scared, and discouraged sometimes. At such times, we keep thinking of our problems trying to get solutions, but our hearts are full of more pain.
David’s question: “How long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?” further shows that David was seeking for God to intervene in his situation and liberate him from his struggles and give him victory against his enemies. In certain cases, we find ourselves asking, “Why is God allowing things to happen to me in this way when the bad guys are advancing in their evil deeds?” From this bible verse, we learn not to get frustrated when everything does not happen the way we wish it to happen in life. Though David felt defeated in his circumstances, he continued to call upon God. Just because we feel discouraged does not mean God has deserted us.

So, Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, From this Todays bible verse we learn that one should take his sadness, concerns, and unanswered prayers to God and not allow them to govern one’s heart. Whenever we go through hard times, whenever we face injustice, whenever we get depressed because of the success of other people around us, one needs to pray sincerely and seek God for wisdom, strength, and peace. This Bible passage can be applied to everyday life when one does not allow negative thoughts to take away the hope he has, and keeps on doing the right thing. One should spend his time praying and meditating in God’s Word rather than worrying about his problems all the time. Please keep in mind that while you might be sad today, you do not have to suffer alone. Keep believing in God and stay faithful to Him.
