Proverbs 3:31,32
“Envy thou not the oppressor*, and choose none of his ways. For the froward is abomination to the LORD: but his secret is with the righteous.”
Explanation of this verse:
This verse in the Bible from Proverbs 3:31-32 warns us not to look up to or emulate the paths of those who rise to power by being unjust and cruel. Even though oppressors might look prosperous or powerful, their practices are based on corruption and self-serving ambition. God Himself commands us not to envy such people or imitate their ways, as their deeds oppose His ways of justice, love, and righteousness. It is a reminder that success is not measured by the world, but by a life that pleases God.
The passage continues to say that those who are “froward” — that is, morally perverse or twisted — are abhorrent to the Lord. Their actions are not ignored; instead, they are an abomination to God. On the other hand, the righteous are those who strive to live righteously according to God’s Word. To them, God discloses His “secret” — a greater understanding of His will, guidance, and spiritual insight. This distinction demonstrates that although the wicked may prosper for a moment, it is the righteous who have eternal closeness to God and His divine wisdom.

So, dear brothers and sisters, today’s Bible verse challenges us to remain loyal to the ways of God, regardless of how appealing the wicked way may appear. We are taught that honesty, humility, and loyalty lead us to God and result in blessings that exceed wealth. Rather than pursuing riches through unrighteous endeavors, let us seek righteousness and believe that God’s blessing and direction will result in a life of genuine satisfaction.
