Psalms 9:19,20
“Arise, O LORD; let not man prevail: let the heathen be judged in thy sight. Put them in fear*, O LORD: that the nations may know themselves to be but men.”
Explanation:
Today’s bible verse is a strong appeal for God’s intervention and justice. It urges God to stand up against the pride and oppression of man, making sure that the wicked do not prevail. The command to “put them in fear” is not so much about inspiring terror as it is about shattering the proud, making them see their finitude and bow to God’s authority. The end result is that the nations come to see they are only human—limited and reliant on the Great, not self-sustaining or invincible. This is the point of contrast between human pride and God’s might.
It expresses a profound faith in God’s righteousness, particularly during moments when the wicked appear to dominate. The cry of the psalmist is for God to make His glory known so that the nations can be brought low and recognize His sovereignty. It reminds us that genuine wisdom starts with an awareness of our human frailties and yielding to God’s right order. In sum, this bible verse instructs us to trust in God’s justice more than in human strength. It breaks nations’ and individuals’ pride, challenging them to be humble before the Creator.
Conclusion:
So, my dear sisters and brothers, this verse from the Bible today teaches us to trust in our God, and it teaches us that He is the One who has the power and strength to crush the pride of all people into dust. Therefore, you should go before your God with humility and modesty and go to His court and cry out to Him. He will certainly never reject your prayers, and He will certainly repay all those who harass you or hurt you for what they have done. Because you are a believer in a living God, and the living God is the Savior and the One who has the power and strength to thwart all the plans of your enemies, so have faith in your God and just let Him do what He wants to do for you at His best time.
