Luke 1:18
“And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years*.”
Explanation:
In this verse, Luke 1:18 demonstrates how Zacharias doubted the words of the angel in respect to him having a son with his wife because of his circumstances. Zacharias took note of his surroundings, how old he and his wife were, and believed that what was said to him could not happen. The fact that he asked God, “Whereby shall I know this?” indicates that even believers struggle with doubt when it comes to God’s promises.
Today’s Bible verse: This verse shows us that just because of our limitations, it does not mean that God has any. In the case of Zacharias, he was concerned about himself, while God was concerned with Himself and what He could do. This also means that there are times in our lives when we might become discouraged with ourselves and all the troubles that we have in our lives. But God sees beyond all that, and He is not bound by any restrictions.

So, Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, from the above discussion, we learn that the verse calls us to put our trust in the power of God rather than the circumstances that influence our faith. The way we incorporate this lesson into our lives is by going before God in prayer with our fears and anxieties, keeping in mind the fact that God has the ability to do much more than we can fathom. In cases where we find ourselves in circumstances that are hard to deal with, we need to hold onto our faith and trust in His timing.
